Newcastle RVI Children’s Cancer Wards£1,8002011The CKDCF made a £1,800 donation to The Great North Children’s Hospital Cancer Ward to purchase a futon chair bed to allow parents to sleep next to their children on the ward.

Cumbria Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service: Straightline, under-19 help centre of CADAS, Egremont£3,0002008Funded a pilot project which targets Salterbeck, an area in Workington, Cumbria where unemployment is double the national average, income is lower than average and Job Seekers benefit is claimed twice as much as the national average. Through a program called Straightline (SL) the CKDCF funded project focused on outreach work with young people, a community based drop in session for drug and alcohol information and structured courses so young people are able to gain a nationally recognized accreditation through the Open College Network.
