PLACES are still available for people to take part in the annual Dunnery charity weekend, later this month.
International singer-songwriter, Francis Dunnery, originally from Egremont, will be appearing in what is already a sell-out concert in aid of the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund, which raises money for local causes.
The next morning (Sunday, October 21), he will be taking part in a sponsored walk around Ennerdale Lake.
Guests from Europe and as far afield as the United States have already signed up for the seven-mile walk. Walkers meet at 10am for breakfast, at Bowness Knott,v before setting off.
Also the day before the walk, October 20, a golf competition is being held at Seascale.
Tee-off times are between 7.30am and noon are available for the Stableford pairs competition. Entry is £7.50 for Seascale Club members and £15 for others and players enrol in the club house.
The Ship Launch pub, in Egremont, has donated £200 to the prize fund for the golf. This year’s beneficiary of the fundraising is Orgill School, Egremont.

There are also tickets available, (£7.50 each) for a charity dinner at the Summer Grove, on Friday, October 19, in aid of the fund.
There is a three-course carvery meal with music by John and Wayne.
