The CKDCF has presented a £1,000 cheque to the North Lakes Foodbank to provide financial support towards a support worker, and to help cover the costs of the organisation’s school holiday scheme.
Without the Foodbank, children who rely on free school meals for daily hot and nutritious meals would have to go without during the school holidays. Eligible local children are given a daily food pack by NLFB, which ensures that they do not go hungry.
Usage at their Egremont branch has risen by over 50% over the last year; in the past 12 months, around 200 children were fed at a time of crisis. Unfortunately, the demand for basic food items from the organisation is rising, which is why the CKDCF is proud to be able to help.
