kiddo275CKDCF SUMMER SUCCESS written by Dominic Beaumont: Mark Andrews raises the roof of the Ship launch Pub with some tremendous fund raising. I spoke directly with CKDCF financial manager Mark Andrew’s who told me “We raised close to one thousand pounds last Friday which is really great for one night in a pub”. He continues “The Evening started with Cumbrian folk duo, John And Wayne, Dorie Jackson was on vocals and with Francis on guitar and then drums. We then had our celebrity auction, which raised over £600.. the top item was a signed Newcastle United Shirt which went for £85. Then local hero ‘Buzz Elliott’ did a great acoustic set and that was followed by a Raffle and Dutch Auction.. thanks to Jill and Michael Rush for the kind Raffle Prize Donation!

I also spoke with Francis who told me ” The CKDCF summer fund raiser is mostly for the locals to come out and show their support. I have to thank Mark Andrews for his incredible effort because to raise one thousand pounds is a testimony to mark’s tenacity and commitment to the charity. He’s always doing something to get new funds for the children’s activities we support. We couldn’t operate without him, he’s a real powerhouse”.
Mark continues ” I would also like to thank my Children, Matthew and Evie and my Nephew and Niece,Jamie and Lauren Litt, who helped selling Raffle Tickets and collecting money for the Dutch Auction, along with Evies Friend Simon Rush. Thanks to my sister Claire Litt, who kept track of the Auction items/bids. The Evening was rounded off with blues sensation Colin Nichol who was on blinding form yet again. A great Night”.
