Music fans from around the world will be heading to West Cumbria for a weekend of fund raising fun, organised by Sellafield worker Mark Andrews.
Mark is treasurer of the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund, which has raised over £50,000 since its inception in 2002.
The charity was set up by musician Francis Dunnery in memory of his parents. Francis hails from Egremont, where he and Mark were school friends, but now lives in the United States.
With Francis being away, Mark looks after the day to day running of CKDCF and his annual fund raisers have proved a hit.
Mark said; “We usually do a weekend in July where we have a race night and a charity auction – which is mainly attended by locals.
“The biggest weekend is in October when people come from all over the world to celebrate Francis’ music and raise lots of money for charity at the same time.”
This year is promising to be even more special than usual; with Francis fronting the newly formed “Francis Dunnery’s Brand New It Bites” in their opening concert of a UK tour at Whitehaven Civic Hall on 24 October.
Mark has some tickets for the concert available for sale – all proceeds go directly to the charity.
Earlier that day the first CKDCF table tennis competition takes place in Whitehaven Sports Centre between 10am and 4pm.
And on the Sunday (25 October) the annual sponsored walk around Ennerdale Lake will take place.
