The CKDCF has donated £1,500 to help homeless young people in West Cumbria.
Whitehaven Community Trust runs supported accommodation for homeless, vulnerable people between 16- and 24-years-old.
Kerry Maxwell, from the Trust, said: “Our aim is to provide safe and secure accommodation with housing related support to vulnerable young people with a range of varied and complex needs, the ultimate goal being for the young person to move on into permanent, stable accommodation, taking with them the skills and knowledge required for living independently and successfully managing their own tenancy.
“In the last 12 months we have received 59 requests for us to home young homeless people, we were able to support 32 of these young people, but due to the hostel being full, we had to sign post 27 young people to other organisations, at any one time we have 2-3 young people on our waiting list.”
The donation will be used to help fund a project worker for residents with complex needs, supporting them into living independently.
