The parents of Lisa Bell – the Wyndham School pupil who lost her life to meningitis last March – have received a donation in her memory.
Tony and Pauline Bell were presented with £1,000 from The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund, and the money will go to the Meningitis Research Foundation in Lisa’s memory.
Mrs and Mrs Bell thanked all those who have donated and raised the money.
The Children’s Fund also presented £5,000 to Wyndham School.
The cheque was received by head teacher Janet Simpson, who says the school council will decide where the money goes.
The £6,000 total was raised by two charity weekends held last year. In June, a charity night was held in The Ship Launch, which included an auction and a pop quiz, followed by a performance by Francis Dunnery, who set up the Fund in memory of his parents.
A sponsored walk around Ennerdale Lake also took place in October, as well as a golf competition at Seascale, and a further concert from Francis at Rosehill, to reach the total raised.
