MUSICAL CONCERTS PROVE TO BE THE PERFECT TONIC

A LITTLE musical festive cheer has been spread to local youngsters – thanks to Egremont rock star Francis Dunnery and his charity.

A host of fun festive events have been held, funded by the Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund (CKDCF), the charity Francis set up in memory of his parents.

At Mayfield School in Whitehaven, a concert was enjoyed by pupils, with Christmas carols and sing-alongs performed by The Andy Kain Duo, through the Music In Hospitals organisation.

A second concert was held at the West Cumberland Hospital’s Fairfield Ward – with Francis in attendance and Andrew Clark on vocals – for children with cystic fibrosis who were unable to attend the Christmas party.

And Mark Andrews, the local face of CKDCF, visited the children’s cancer ward’s Christmas party at Newcastle’s RVI – which treats Cumbrian youngsters – to hand out 200 selection boxes.

CKDCF, which has been established since 2002, donates money at regular intervals throughout the year to local causes that benefit children. For more information visit www.ckdcf.org.
