MEMBERS of west Cumbrian-born singer/songwriter Francis Dunnery’s children’s charity presented a £3,000 cheque to Bookwell School in his native Egremont.
The money was raised during two weekends in July and October last year when the former It Bites front-man returned home to lead various fundraising activities.
They included a pop quiz, musical jamming session and golf tournament, a sponsored walk round Ennerdale, in which over 70 people – including Bookwell pupils – took part, and a five-a-side football competition.
Francis, who has carved out a successful music career in America, set up his charity in memory of his parents.
The charity aims to help improve the health and education of children in Egremont and the surrounding area.
