The CKDCF have donated £500 to the Greenbank Community Association for their annual Summer Play Scheme.
The play scheme, which caters for between 60 and 80 local children, will be held twice a week for four weeks during the school summer break. The scheme attracts children from in and around the Greenbank area of Whitehaven, with volunteers believing it contributes to a reduction in petty crime and vandalism.
Alongside the many activities provided by the Greenbank Summer Play Scheme, the scheme also incorporates a day trip. For a number of the children, the day trip is the only opportunity they have to step foot outside of the local area!
